About Our Customer Service

I remember shopping many years ago in the city with my grandmother who was always outfitted with her mandatory gloves and hat.   Where ever we went, sales clerks (that’s what they used to call them) would graciously help us with whatever we needed, no matter which department they worked or where they had to look.  Having grown up in a big city and had the exposure to some of the famous stores of yesteryear,  I Magnin, City of Paris, and Gumps (at the original 250 Sutter address), I have always remembered the good feeling of being well taken care of by everyone.   Rarely do I see this type of customer service any more, and that is why we strive to meet or exceed this example at Table Top & Home.

Like a concierge at a fine hotel we really care about our clients.  We want our customers to enjoy their visit to our store, return for future shopping experiences and let everyone know how well they were treated.  We follow the same equation as many of the fine hotels: We treat ladies and gentlemen like ladies and gentlemen.

However, before we can practice any rules on good customer service we have to note our staff.  We only hire employees who genuinely like people and are interested in others.  All good things start with our cheerful and professional staff and without them, it just wouldn’t make sense to be in business. We make sure that good customer service is not only expected but exemplified throughout all levels of our business, including behind the scene procedures and policies that we know ultimately have an impact on customer satisfaction.

We also believe that everyone who walks though our doors is a customer: past present or future.  It doesn’t matter who you are or what you need, we are here to assist you in order for you to make informed decision on what you may be purchasing.  This is why we spend a particularly good amount of time training our staff on the products we carry.  We pride ourselves on keeping up with every new introduction from our valued vendors.  We have regular visits from our vendor representatives to keep up on available products, deliveries and quality performance.  There is a lot of detail to behind the scene product support.

We have the expertise to be able to walk each and every customer through our store to show unique details to just about everything they see.  We understand that it could be a bit overwhelming to consider all the products we stock or can special order, but this is why our staff is so valuable.  They know their stuff.  Any member of our staff will be able to ask the right questions and can help guide our customers so they are able to understand what makes any particular product unique.   Their explanation of nuances between comparable products should further guarantee customer satisfaction.  These important customer considerations are one of the reasons our bridal and gift registry program is so successful.   We know what items lay the important foundation for setting up a new household or giving a gracious and meaningful gift.  It is all in the details.

New Collection of Dinnerware

Ocean, Pearl & Oyster Dinnerware from Jars

We have been waiting with anticipation for weeks the arrival of our new dinnerware collection, Jars.  This introduction of beautiful stoneware from the south of France is just what we have been searching for as a modern, yet classic aesthetic for our clients.  We chose three of their neutral patterns as our fashion basic statement: pearl, oyster and ocean.  Each of these colors has a subtle and variegated glaze and can easily be mixed and matched with one another.  These dinner and serving ware pieces are like porcelain and are chip resistant, microwave and dishwasher safe.  They also are non-porous and will not stain.  Prices for individual items range from $10.00 – $39.00.  With all these great characteristics, you should enjoy many years of service and satisfaction.

New Fashion Trends

We just came back from Atlanta market earlier this week, where we shopped until we dropped to find new collections to restock our empty shelves.  We found tons of fantastic new things and we are busy placing stock orders to get these goodies quickly into the store.  Check out one of the fabulous new collections we found from Ann Gish.  It is a quick shot from one of the showrooms, but you get the idea.  It is gorgeous!  If you want to read more about fashion trends for the season read below (under the photo) all the details.  We will have these and other new products in our store in only a few short weeks.

Jimmy Throws & Pillows

Jimmy Throws & Pillows

The first notes of the season were about black and white.  Whether I saw large oversized floral and leaf silhouettes dancing on textiles, or skyscrapers and words on wall art, the designs were bold, silk screened and minimalist.  My favorite introductions offered items with accents of mustard or pale yellow colors which gave a very sophisticated urban vibe to the look.   Texture was minimal on core bed, bath and table linen items, but accent pieces popped with embroidery and appliqués.  White resin and milk glass offset soft goods and I saw wonderful floral topiaries as well as large finials made out of resin, and a strong presence of modern silhouettes in white glass.   Also within this genre were wide assortments of gorgeous black glass, patent leather and oxidized metal accessories or highly polished chrome items.

The Spring tide has also turned clean and clear with the strongest comeback of white linen I have seen in a long time.  Washed and relaxed or pressed and pleated, I saw a lighter and brighter interpretation of the natural history world using this wonderful cloth as a platform. Many times I saw white teamed with natural linen; however I saw white linen elegantly layered with platinum or other soft grey and lavender hues.  Soft goods were accented consistently with scatterings of mist, marine blue and frost colors, looking like a handful of worn glass from the sea.  Although many vendors played the look towards beach house living, I saw as many clean line interpretations that would easily suit urban dwellings.    Decorative accents were all about the sea:  birds or decorative balls made of driftwood, rope knots printed on high design products, blonde wood lamps and furniture and tons of colored sea glass candlesticks, glassware and serving pieces.

And if your preference is pink and green in a tangerine dream then the market had its share of treats too!  This world of retro femme is still a strong presence in the younger hipper world of home accents.  I saw lots of hot pink and orange graphics with green grass colors (and sometimes texture) dancing on white backgrounds.  At this end of the design spectrum it was a bright, fresh and sophisticated presentation of both large and small scaled floral prints and embellishments on white (mostly linen).  There was nothing wrong with this fun and whimsical trend, albeit specific.  Again, I saw a lot of white resin and polished chrome in contemporary serving pieces, lamps, candlesticks and bath accessories.

All in All, it felt just like Spring with freshness and color popping out of the cold dark winter past.

Winter Savings

It is that time of year at Table Top &  Home to say, “Out with the old, and in with the new.”  We have marked down all of our seasonal items for you to enjoy for next Christmas.  Althought we thankfully don’t have too much left over, what we do have is fabulous.  We are also offering great deals on first quality items that we will not be moving forward with this spring: Table linens, towels, decorative accessories and  more.  There is absolutely nothing wrong with any of these things, except we have to make room for new!  Take advantage of these great deals and ask us what we have coming soon!

Dr. Vranjes Duomo collection
Dr. Vranjes Duomo collection

I love great fragrance as much as I love fine linens and I have found something that makes me swoon, Dr. Vranjes Home Fragrance.  These precious 250 ml glass vials in the shape of the Santa Maria del Fiore also known as “Duomo” are filled with perfect fragrance for the home.  As one customer has said, “I can smell the beauty inside.”  I agree, the fragrances are beautiful and reflect the passion and research of Dr. Paulo Vranjes, the genius behind the brand.  We stock our six favorite fragrances of The Original Antica Officia assortment:  Tuberosa Mughetto, Vanilla Mandarine, Ginger e Lime, Fuoco (Fire), Magnolia Orchidea, and Fico Selvatico.  There is absolutely no alcohol in the fragrance, so your enjoyment will last for at least 6 months without having to ever turn the wood cane wands.  As Dr. V says, “The Home Fragrance becomes also a much-sought furnish complement that refresh and purify the spaces in a wise equilibrium of relaxing and stimulating feelings.”
