- Easy Care Table Linens
We all hope that summer is just around the corner, and when it comes I will be ready. I am already longing to have a cool drink and a light meal outdoors on my patio table. Don’t you think food always seems to taste better when dining al fresco? This year I am going to enjoy my meals just a bit more, because I have a new easy care tablecloth to enjoy.
My new tablecloth by Garnier Thiebaut and is actually made of a beautiful jacquard woven fabric. Most of the easy care linens I have had in the past have been oil cloth, which is basically dioxide emitting plastic pasted on top of fabric. It is just not right to dine with this sticky and stiff table covering! My new cloth on the other hand, has a lovely supple feel to it, because it is coated with three layers of acrylic coating, which by-the-way is not gassing up the air as well as my meal.
The best of all; my tablecloth is completely stain resistant and waterproof. It can be wiped clean with a sponge! I love this cloth so much; I think I am going to buy another one for indoors. I can’t think of a reason why I shouldn’t enjoy easy care throughout the year.

We also can special order from the vendor any of the other 30 or more styles available, and get it to you in a few short weeks. We can even order table rounds up to 70” in diameter. - Hand finished Bath Accessories
It is true that good things are worth waiting for. This is particularly true when it comes to hand finished lacquer bath accessories. We have patiently been waiting to fill in our stock on our very popular hand crafted bath accessories by Gail DeLoach. These accessories are made by very skilled craftsmen who have applied layers of tiny pieces of eggshell to the white lacquer bases. On top of these fragments of eggshell, a pearl sized amount of paint is brushed. Finally, a layer of clear resin is painted to create a product that yields deep luxurious colors and a smooth lasting finish.

It has been a fairly long down season in our house. We have had the winter down comforter on the bed and it is almost June. Each week I think it is time to pull off this puffy wonder for the sleeker and lighter comforter stored away, but then another rain storm, wind or chilly evening shows up and the winter down has been welcome.
This week however, my husband and I were just plain uncomfortable. It was just crazy to spend another night tossing, and turning because we were just too warm. So yesterday I made the switch. What a huge difference that made! This morning, I woke up early and well rested to greet the sun rising, birds singing and a new day ahead. In hindsight, I should have done this a while ago.
For those who have never enjoyed having a summer weight down, I would heartily recommend getting one. By having just enough down fill in the comforter to insulate heat in combination with a good quality cover to wick away moisture, your quality of sleep will dramatically improve. For this time of season, I prefer the down over a thermal blanket, because I like to sleep in cooler room.
So, I officially have my summer bed made, which means also means a lighter colored coverlet and a few new decorative pillows on it to freshen up the look. Although I have the new day ahead of me, I am also looking forward to tonight. You could too!
A good quality summer weight down will run about $400.00 to $600.00 dollars at our store. They will provide years of satisfaction, so the cost can be prorated to pennies a night. Many of our customers come into our store with paint chip colors and tile samples to find the perfect matching towels for their bathroom.

That is why our new and astute employee Philippa recommended that we purchase some popular marble, limestone, granite and travertine tile to merchandise with the towels in our bath section of the store. By having these tiles alongside the towels, our customers can easily see what towel colors work with what. Further, Philippa went through all our additional towels swatches and is putting together a list of what special order towels may coordinate and compliment these stone finishes. It is a great solution to the questions often asked, “What goes with this?” Thank you, Philippa and Katie for your great ingenuityand implementation. It inspired me to revamp our bath section on the website. We received in a lot of merchandise last week, but my favorite has to be the new Chiliwich floor and utility mats we are now offering. The rugs (which come in all sorts of sizes 2 x 3, 3 x 4, 4 x 6 and 6 x 9s) are being unpacked as I write and will be shown in a nifty square display. You will find them in the front corner of the store where the windows wrap around the building.
These modern styled mats are made in the USA of vinyl and can be washed with water and a bio-degradable detergent. The shag and spun styled floormats can be used outside and are also resistant to mildew and mold: important for the Pacific Northwest. The woven floormats are best suited for dry covered surfaces to ensure longevity.
What I love most about these floor coverings is that they coordinate back to our wildly successful woven vinyl placemats by the same company. Although I prefer things not be too matchy matchy, I think having complementary colors on the table to the floor is calming and ties the dining room together.
Ask the staff in the store about them. I think you will agree with me, they are really smart looking and a great new addition to our home furnishing assortment.

The bar for performance on personal care is set high at our store. We only like top quality, natural ingredients as well as stylish packaging. So when we found Olivina, we just flipped. Made with hand-pressed, anti-oxidant olive and grape seed oils, these products have amazing moisturizing qualities. All products are free from chemical parabens, preservatives and sodium Lauryl-sulfate.
We now stock three fragrances of hand soap, hand wash, hand cream and lotion: Olive, alluringly sensual in a spicy unisex scent. Lavender, a calming perfect match with the uplifting notes of bitter orange blended with it. And Meyer lemon mixed with honeysuckle smells like it was just picked off the tree.

I remember shopping many years ago in the city with my grandmother who was always outfitted with her mandatory gloves and hat. Where ever we went, sales clerks (that’s what they used to call them) would graciously help us with whatever we needed, no matter which department they worked or where they had to look. Having grown up in a big city and had the exposure to some of the famous stores of yesteryear, I Magnin, City of Paris, and Gumps (at the original 250 Sutter address), I have always remembered the good feeling of being well taken care of by everyone. Rarely do I see this type of customer service any more, and that is why we strive to meet or exceed this example at Table Top & Home.
Like a concierge at a fine hotel we really care about our clients. We want our customers to enjoy their visit to our store, return for future shopping experiences and let everyone know how well they were treated. We follow the same equation as many of the fine hotels: We treat ladies and gentlemen like ladies and gentlemen.
However, before we can practice any rules on good customer service we have to note our staff. We only hire employees who genuinely like people and are interested in others. All good things start with our cheerful and professional staff and without them, it just wouldn’t make sense to be in business. We make sure that good customer service is not only expected but exemplified throughout all levels of our business, including behind the scene procedures and policies that we know ultimately have an impact on customer satisfaction.
We also believe that everyone who walks though our doors is a customer: past present or future. It doesn’t matter who you are or what you need, we are here to assist you in order for you to make informed decision on what you may be purchasing. We have regular visits from our vendor representatives to keep up on available products, deliveries and quality performance. There is a lot of detail to behind the scene product support.
We have the expertise to be able to walk each and every customer through our store to show unique details to just about everything they see. We understand that it could be a bit overwhelming to consider all the products we stock or can special order, but this is why our staff is so valuable. They know their stuff. Any member of our staff will be able to ask the right questions and can help guide our customers so they are able to understand what makes any particular product unique.
